Eyewitnesses to the road accident on the A52 near Wyvern have described the moments leading up to and following the collision.
According to one commuter, the accident occurred suddenly, with drivers having little time to react. “I saw a van swerve to avoid something, and then it all happened so quickly,” said one witness.
The Derbyshire Police have cordoned off the area as investigations begin into the cause of the accident. Fire services were seen using hydraulic equipment to free trapped passengers, while paramedics attended to the injured on-site before transporting them to the hospital.
Emergency services praised the public for their cooperation during the initial response. However, they urged drivers in the vicinity to refrain from using their phones to capture images, as this could impede rescue efforts and pose safety risks.
