Veterinarian Nick Johnson Dies After Courageous Battle with Cancer

Stanley House Vets is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Nick Johnson, a cherished friend, colleague, and dedicated veterinarian, who died on December 6, 2024, after bravely battling cancer. For 18 years, Nick was a pillar at Stanley House, known for his exceptional veterinary skills and heartfelt care for his patients.

His humor and warmth left an indelible mark on colleagues and clients alike. Nick spent his final weeks at Pendleside Hospice, where he received exceptional care and support. To honor him, Stanley House Vets will host a Christmas Jumper fundraiser this week, with proceeds benefiting Pendleside Hospice.

In accordance with Nick’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held on January 7, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Fence Gate, Wheatley Lane Road, Fence, Burnley, BB12 9EE. Friends, family, and colleagues are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Nick’s life.

Beyond his veterinary career, Nick was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was passionate about hockey, horse riding, and photography, and he dreamed of contributing to Vets Without Borders, reflecting his lifelong dedication to animals and service.

For those who cannot attend the celebration, donations to Vets Without Borders in Nick’s name can be made through Stanley House Vets, with a collection box available at the event venue. Nick’s legacy of compassion, dedication, and love for animals and people will be deeply missed but always remembered by everyone he touched.

The community’s participation in the fundraiser and the celebration of Nick’s life are fitting tributes to a man whose impact was profound and lasting.
