Scott Romei Granville, OH: Man Known Locally as “Decker Scott,” Died by Suicide at Kroger After Police Chase In Pataskala

The Pataskala community is in mourning following the terrible loss of Scott Romine, also known as “Decker Scott” among friends and locals. On Monday, December 16, Romine committed suicide at the Kroger on East Broad Street after a heartbreaking police pursuit.

According to authorities, the event began with a police chase earlier in the day. Details about the chase have yet to be disclosed, but it ended tragically in the Kroger parking lot, where Romine committed suicide.

Scott popularly known as “Decker Scott” by those who knew him, was a prominent figure in the Pataskala community, owner of Frank Romei & Son Plumbing, resident of Granville High School, and a graduate of Granville, Ohio. Friends and neighbors characterized him as a complex yet caring person who had an impact on everyone he encountered. “Decker was a part of this community in a way that’s hard to put into words,” said one local. “He struggled, but he also provided moments of connection and laughter.” We are heartbroken.”
