Bobby Garcia, multi-award-winning theater director and producer has died

Bobby Garcia, a multi-award-winning theatrical director and producer, has passed away. He was 55. Garcia’s family confirmed this to ABS-CBN News via Boy Abunda and Bettina Aspillaga, two of his close pals. Earlier today, Abunda announced the terrible news on his afternoon broadcast.

Garcia founded Atlantis Productions, one of Asia’s leading theatre companies. He directed and produced more than 50 plays and musicals in Canada and Asia, including shows nominated for Tony, Drama League, and Outer Critic Circle awards.

He also co-produced the Tony-nominated musical “Here Lies Love” on Broadway. He has won three Aliw awards and has been inducted into their Hall of Fame.

His most recent directing project was “Request sa Radyo,” starring Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon. The family thanks everyone for recognizing their need for privacy during this difficult time.
