A tragic traffic accident early Sunday morning south of Turlock left four people dead, including three members of a local family. The victims were identified as Daniel Lourenco, 44, his wife Jennifer Lourenco, 45, and their daughter Madelynn Lourenco, 16. Also killed in the crash was 22-year-old Uriel Guizar Negrete, the driver of the vehicle that collided with the Lourenco family’s Jeep.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 165 and Greenway Avenue. The Lourenco family was traveling west on Greenway Avenue when their Jeep SUV, having stopped at the intersection’s stop sign, entered the crossing. At the same time, Negrete’s Infiniti sedan was reportedly speeding south on Highway 165 and failed to stop, crashing into the Jeep.
The crash left the Lourenco family members with fatal injuries. Jennifer Lourenco, a beloved education specialist at Sinclear Elementary School, was among those who died at the scene, along with her husband Daniel and their daughter Madelynn. The family’s loss has been deeply felt by the local Turlock community, where Jennifer was known for her passion for teaching and her caring nature.
Madelynn Lourenco was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away from her injuries. The two remaining passengers in the Jeep, a 19-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, both sustained major injuries and are currently being treated at the hospital. Their conditions are still being monitored by medical staff.
The crash investigation revealed that all of the passengers in the Jeep were wearing their seat belts, while Negrete, the driver of the Infiniti, was not. He died at the scene. The California Highway Patrol has not yet confirmed whether drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash.
