The parents of Joules Smith, a six-year-old girl from Minster, Sheppey, have shared a poignant tribute to their daughter after she passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning. Joules’s death came after a brave battle with midline glioma, an aggressive brain tumour that was diagnosed in May. Despite being given months to live, the Smith family made the most of the time they had left with their “beautiful princess.”
Joules’s parents, Joe and Elisha, were heartbroken when they received the devastating news about their daughter’s condition. Midline glioma is a rare and particularly difficult cancer, and the prognosis was grim. However, instead of succumbing to despair, the family chose to focus on creating unforgettable moments with Joules. They embarked on trips together, ensuring that their little girl experienced as much joy and love as possible during her final months.
In addition to making lasting memories, Joe and Elisha also shared their story with the public, using social media as a platform to raise awareness about Joules’s condition. They hoped that their journey would inspire others and bring attention to childhood cancers, which often go underfunded and under-researched.
As they mourn their loss, Joe and Elisha reflect on the incredible courage and love their daughter showed during her short life. Though their hearts are broken, they take comfort in the fact that Joules’s memory will continue to inspire others to cherish every moment with their loved ones.
