The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a shooting at RJ Reynolds High School that left a juvenile injured. The incident occurred near West Northwest Blvd and has resulted in heightened security measures across the area.
Forsyth County Emergency Services reported that the victim, a student, was shot in the upper leg during an altercation. The student was rushed to the hospital, but their condition has not yet been updated. The suspect remains at large.
In the wake of the shooting, students from RJ Reynolds High School are being transported to the Harris Teeter on Cloverdale Avenue for parent pickup. Brunson Elementary and Wiley Middle School were also placed on lockdown as a precautionary step.
