Riley Bennett Obituary Rock Island, IL: Man, 30, died in Davenport car accident identified

A man died in a late-night crash in Davenport yesterday, according to a news release from the Davenport Police Department. The Rock Island man passed away in the vehicle crash that happened on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, December 17 at approximately 11:12 p.m., Davenport Police, Fire, and Medic EMS responded to the vicinity of East River Drive and Forest Road for a two-vehicle incident. According to the preliminary inquiry, an eastbound Kia Soul lost control, crossed the center line, and collided with a westbound Chevrolet Trailblazer. The driver and only occupant of the Kia, 30-year-old Riley Bennett, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was transferred to a local hospital and died of his injuries.

At the time of the incident, the Trailblazer’s driver and single occupant were wearing a seatbelt. He was brought to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the trailblazer was not released immediately due to family notifications. The Davenport Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the event, and no other information is available.
